Coaching and Mentoring can overlap but they are not the same. Mentoring is a process that primarily focuses specifically on the individual - providing personal guidance, direction, and sounding board advice which the recipient is free to take up or not.
In contrast, coaching is more involved, providing active direction and development programs and support toward the achievement of defined objectives and outcomes and strategically assessing and monitoring the progress and giving ongoing advice for effectiveness and efficiency.
Mentoring is primarily based on you. Coaching is impartial, focused on improvement in behaviour and achievement of business and personal development outcomes.
